1 oz Copper Round | Mercury Dime
Taken directly from the 1916 Mercury Dime, the obverse features a profile view of Lady Liberty, a figure renowned for her appearances on many denominations of American coinage. Inscriptions include “LIBERTY” and “IN GOD WE TRUST.”
The reverse features the fasces, a combination of wooden rods and protruding axe blade used in ancient Rome. Magistrates would carry these bundles with them in order to demonstrate and symbolize their power and jurisdiction. The fasces is shown wrapped in an olive branch, the universal symbol for peace. Inscriptions include “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” along with the round’s weight and purity.
